In one of the debates "Is Artificial Intelligence Taking Over Our Lives" it talks about some of the pros and cons of artificial intelligence becoming part of our daily lives. Machines have been taking over some jobs of manual labor for a while now. Although it has become very helpful in some cases, in others, people have lost their jobs. In addition, if we keep becoming too reliant on technology, we are going to become less intelligent. Everything we would ever need to know is at the tip of our fingertips making us feel like we do not need to obtain the same amount of knowledge. Even though technology is super smart, the one thing we still have over it is that we have the feeling and emotions that they will not be able to obtain.
However, there are a few benefits to artificial intelligence. Later on in the article, Nnedi Okorafor tells us that technology has really helped the streets in Kinshasa. There is a robot in the street that helps keep the flow of traffic moving, and keeps the streets safe for the pedestrians. In these cases, I believe that artificial intelligence is very helpful in keeping a community safe. It can be a good thing just as long as we control it. It should not have to take over people's jobs because at the end of the day, it is going to be a human that fixes it.

I believe that technology has helped us in many ways like you said with the robot that can keep the flow of traffic moving. Although I also that a human can do that as well, but most people prefer technology because it makes fewer mistakes. I liked how you talked about technology taking over jobs I feel that to me that's one of the saddest parts because we need jobs to support ourselves/ our family. I think technology is a good thing,but there also has to be limit because soon everything will be run by machines and that's all we'll know so we won't bother to learn anything.
ReplyDeleteI can understand why you think that technology can be menacing to the human race, but I personally think that we can adapt to change. Technology has been extremely beneficial to the whole world, we have had new discoveries that have never been found before, making technology helpful. I agree that many of us have become very relied to our electronic devices, and use them for everything. Although, in some cases, technology has help in our learning and I believe that as technology evolves so do we, each of us becoming more intelligent. And as you mentioned electronic devices will need human to fix them.
ReplyDeleteI mainly disagree with most of the point that you have brought up. I disagree with the fact that you said that we rely on the technology to much and that we are becoming less intelligent. A.I is a wonderful thing that could overall help everyone if you use it correctly. Now I do agree that we should stop making people lose jobs and replace them with robots, but that really it. Overall A.I has been very helpful to the human race . The only real reason we prefer them over people is because they make way less mistake and most of the time you can fix it with a press of a button.
ReplyDeleteArtificial intelligence is a great thing because it allows us to help create new things. It has been very helpful to us humans as they do make fewer mistakes. I also agree that we may be a little too reliant on technology though. Most of us wouldn't really be able to last a week without using some kind of technical device. Technology really does help in enormous ways, but we really don't feel like we need to obtain the same amount of knowledge.
