Is technology able to control us? Long read

After reading Can we stop AI from outsmarting humanity? by Mara Hvistendahl which can worry the minds of humans but especially children. Ever since that smartphones where invented with social media and other apps it change how people think. From older adults it change on how things can be done, but with young adults and children it change on how they believe everything that they see and assume its correct because its on the internet. Children use to be aware of their surroundings, but instead their face is in a device, which makes the question is technology already outsmarting human intelligence?

There's has been sightings on how people are already being outsmarted from an AI able to play a game of chess to a self driven vehicle. Teens are being outsmarted by their own phones by what people are posting social media as someone needs to do this to be this. I mean its not wrong to fit in, but some do whatever what their smartphone tells them what to do; while they're others trying to limit devices to extend their knowledge to not consume every single person. I know its wild to even think if every person can be consume, but what if we become a Disney film Wall-E where everyone is consume by screens and control by one AI. Other books as in Fahrenheit 451 people needed a television for each wall. It may not seem that we are what the book predicted, but soon enough we could be the film. Do you believe that in a few decades we can be outsmarted by the progress of technology?

  1. I believe that we are increasingly intrigued by technology but I don’t think things like social media have outsmarted us. In the debate “Is internet addiction a health threat for teens” there is a good explanation of how kids and teens prefer to socialize in real life opposed to the popular belief that they are glued to their screens because they are addicted. If we educate kids to teens about safe ways to use technology, and how to limit themselves and set healthy boundaries we can develop healthy relationships with the grand opportunities of the online world.

  2. Eventually, if humanity decides to create an AI which has the capability to function like a human brain then it is possible. Nothing on this planet can match the complexity of the human brain. Even we don't know all of the capabilities of the brain, so AI won't be able to get as smart as we think yet. As long as we don't create an AI with an exact replica of the human brain, we should be fine.
