Pros and cons of technology
There's many pros with technology and there's also many cons with technology. Technology improves every year. I really don't know why but I'm guessing to keep up with the modern world and to make life easier for humanity. There's a lot of pros with technology like finding the cure to cancer. Help people with education like the special needs. And to help us do are daily routines like driving , getting in contact with somebody, or just even turning on some music to listen to. We can all agree that they help us with a lot of things. But are the pros more worth it than the cons.
There's also many cons that come with technology. Like in the media fake news spreading and cyberbullying. Teens and kids get distracted way too easy on their mobile devices. Causes them not to do homework or take care of their responsibilities. Also kids don't go outside no more because of their mobile devices. Their not able to explore the outside world. Many adults get to caught up on their technology too. Like texting and driving is a huge factor. That causes many accidents that results to fatal injuries or deaths. It can also start problems like on the media. Two girls go at it next thing you know their fighting in school. So it's kind of hard to see if we need technology or not. But are the cons worth it of having technology?

Technology is one of the greatest things that humans have come up with. It brings convenience and speeds up tedious tasks that would take forever in the past. It has the benefits of connecting people and making life overall easier. It would be gross to deny all the positives that they bring, which clearly outweigh all of the negatives it has created. Sure some problems come out of technology, but many of them are not the fault of technology.
ReplyDeleteWhat I am getting from your blog, it would seem that you would advocate for anarcho primitivism. In short, it is where technology is removed and we would be back to hunters and gatherers to rid all the negatives technology brings. In this world, you would not have any of the great inventions of technology which would make life much more difficult and less enjoyable. Is removing technology to get rid of their problems really worth it.
The pros of technology as a whole definitely outweigh the cons. All of the cons that you listed were at the consumer’s fault. The invention of phones/computers doesn’t directly cause people to stay inside or use their phones when driving. More than half of the cons you listed are caused by people lacking enough self control to limit their use of technology. Also, the claim that technology causes the spread of fake news isn’t that strong of a con because we wouldn’t have any form of instant widespread news without technology.
ReplyDeleteYour examples of technology are too limited in your post as you only mention the bare examples such as phones and other mobile devices. However, technology is not only these things and goes much beyond. An example is how technology has allowed for us to more efficiently travel which increases the strength of international relationships and allows us to do things like get jobs that are not considered close to home since vehicles are able to close the gap of distance that once caused a problem when people only had the option of walking. Technology has also allowed us to vastly improve our research in areas such as health when compared to our ancestors. It's due to technology that things like dying to the common cold are not a threat whatsoever and has increased the survival rate of small children. The cons mentioned here are trivial when compared to all the pros that could be mentioned beyond what I decided to include in this comment.
