Passion and talent giving social media an uprising
In Sophie Elmhirst's article "'It's genuine, you know?': why the online influencer industry is going 'authentic'", she talks about how this industry is going to succeed with influencers being more passionate about their role and having real talent. This would mean that the influencers fan base could feel more attached to the person or people and boost the succession of this influencer. I believe that this new phase is going to be successful because the feeling of attachment really helps people connect with a youtuber, instagrammer, or any social media celebrity. In today's social media standards, we have influencers like the Paul brothers, Ricegum, and Lil Tay who didn't care about their followers and mostly did it for the money. There was no real sentiment or passion in their videos; it was mainly money spending and showing off the cool stuff they have because of their money. This type of business is only good for a little bit until their spark eventually fuses out and they're left with no money or views. Elmhirst talks about a youtuber named Sophie Hinchliffe that has a cleaning channel with music playing in the background and she's talking to her viewers. This may sound exactly the same as the bad examples i mentioned, but she really talks to her viewers and helps them through their lives. She has helped a lot of people through their anxiety just by cleaning and talking. If we can get more influencers like this than the social media business will skyrocket and people will feel more connected to it instead of watching someone throw money away and buy random stuff.
