Fate or Freewill?

Fate is something that's already determine. You can't change it cause it's destine to happen. Freewill brings you opportunities and gives you choices on whether or not to take them. With freewill you can choose your on outcomes or results on things. For many years people have been debating if we have "fate or freewill''.  You can argue with a person about this, but at the end of the day their still going to have their opinion about it. To me the only thing that is fate is when were going to die. Other then that I think we have freewill.

I say this because there's so many examples how we have freewill. Like we choose whether or not to go to school. We can choose whether or not to do the work and were able to do what we want. Even if there's consequences behind them. But that's freewill. We also can control how we can die. Like if we keep are body clean and healthy we might not catch a disease. Or if you look both ways before crossing a street, there's a chance of you not getting hit by a car.

  1. You said that you believe in freewill besides when we die, but what if all those choices you exampled are part of fate. What if you were meant to choose the school you want, or how you keep your body healthy? What if everything you are already doing is some part of a weird game of fate where you think you are choosing with freewill, but it is really predestined. Also, how is when you die fate? If you had the freewill to cross the street and a car hit you, is that fate or freewill?

In my opinion, I don't believe in fate. I believe that we choose what we want and that whatever we choose effects us. Kind of like the butterfly effect. If we choose too eat unhealthy, then our bodies will be unhealthy. If we choose to workout while eating unhealthy, then our life takes a different route. Nothing is controlling how we die, or when we die. Fate is just an excuse people have to apprehend their mistakes (In my opinion).

  2. I think you should rethink your last paragraph. Similar to what Jacob said, their really isn’t a way to tell if something is fate or freewill because you could be destined to make any of those decisions that you are interpreting as freewill. Regarding the subject of death, there is obviously some control that you have if you purposely are trying to die in a certain way, but I wouldn’t say that either of your two examples are free will. Choosing to live a healthy lifestyle or looking both ways before crossing a street isn’t giving you a free choice of how you die, all it does is decrease the chances of you dying in those specific ways.

  3. The question of fate vs freewill is not a matter that can be summarized simply in the span of two paragraphs. There's really no way to determine if they're unable to coexist since we don't have any method to see if that's true. Would it be freewill to participate in actions that are already set in stone but from your point of view are a result of a choice you made?

  4. There is no way to determine what could be fate and what is freewill. Sure you can chose to do things on your own but what if that is meant to be your fate? I believe this is a much more complex topic and should go into more depth.

  5. I think there is some sort of free will in this world but naturally there are some occurrences that will naturally happen that no manner of choices will keep at bay. For example the choice to keep yourself healthy so you won't catch a disease is in itself free will but fate decides that you will have to die, so free will is really in a sense the idea that you get to choose your fate out of a multitude of realities your free will allows you to choose which reality you're going to experience.
