While I was reading the novel, Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley, I couldn't help but notice how similar it is to another novel, The Giver, By Lois Lowry. Both societies in the books attempt to be a utopia but fail miserably. From what I've read, utopian societies rarely ever work. There's always going to be that one group or person who wants change. In the novel, The Giver, Jonas is one of the main characters and in his society, the leaders tried to make it into a place with no pain or suffering.
This definitely came with some setbacks, because the people living within that society had no control over their lives whatsoever. They had no say in anything, no freedom, or individuality. The government literally controlled everything that the civilians did and monitored their thoughts, so the people couldn't take it anymore. After some time, Jonas finally tried to spark change, which led to his society turning into a dystopia. Furthermore, this novel reminds me of Brave New World, because they both consist of like concepts. They both went from a planned utopia to a dystopia, overrun by complete chaos.

I strongly agree with the fact that the government is managing the citizens lifestyle. They did take away certain colors and only left black and white to the community. Only because they wanted everyone to share the same experience. They even keep secrets about life from their people to prevent any pain. It's crazy what the government does for humanity.
