In the Room of Debate's "Is Internet Addiction a Health Threat for Teens?", Noa Gafni Slaney and Emerson Csorba debated on whether too much screen time could be good or bad for teens. They both brought up good points and raised a few questions. Slaney stated that being digitally connected was, while Csorba said otherwise. Slaney stated that being digitally connected can bring people together, however Csorba argued that being on the internet too much can make people depressed from seeing other people's 'perfect' lives. It was hard for me to agree with one side more than the other because they both had great points. Should we put a restriction on how much time we use our phones so that we can still have those connections with people from around the world, but also not think until the point that we become depressed? Do you think we could find a balance between those two?

ReplyDeleteIn my perspective I would restrict on the use of phones. For someone to be jealous or wished that they had something that someone has they would need to restrict time on what they like to have something that they would love. If someone does try to balance between the time for enjoyment and use their time to be productive then they shouldn't complain or be dissatisfied for what they have.
ReplyDeleteThe question that maybe we should consider is how can the time on our phones be more beneficial to us?

ReplyDeleteYes, teenagers should spend less time on their phones. The reason why is because we spend too much time on our devices. It takes away the valuable time one could’ve been doing playing outside, or studying for tests. The more time one spends on their devices, the more dependent they become. They will feel a constant need to look at their phones every chance they get. Limiting that screen time will benefit them from becoming too addicted. They will use their devices, but to a healthy extent
